Der Kofferraumdeckel des Model S war schon immer der Teil des Fahrzeugs, der die leichteste Hand erfordert. Alles zu Hohe verändert die Silhouette unpassend; alles zu Dezente geht verloren. Der Carbonfaser-Spoiler von Adro sitzt genau dort, wo er soll — ein flacher Ducktail, der die Heckklappe gerade genug anhebt, um das Profil des Fahrzeugs abzurunden und dem Heck eine Klarheit zu verleihen, die der serienmäßige Deckel leicht offenlässt.
Er besteht aus Prepreg-Carbonfaser, im Autoklav gehärtet, mit einem engen 2x2 Köpergewebe, das seine Ausrichtung von Kante zu Kante hält. Prepreg-Konstruktion bedeutet, dass Harz und Gewebe unter Hitze und Druck verbunden werden, statt von Hand aufgetragen, wodurch das fertige Teil leichter, steifer und maßhaltiger ist — und die glänzende Oberfläche eine Tiefe hat, die Reflexionen klar einfängt, statt flach zu wirken.
Der Lippenwinkel und das Profil der hinteren Kante des Spoilers wurden mit 3D-Scan-Daten des Model S Kofferraums entwickelt und durch CFD-Simulation verfeinert. Die Form erzeugt bei Geschwindigkeit eine messbare Anpresskraft am Heck und reduziert die Luftablösung am Fahrzeugende, was sich in einem stabileren Fahrgefühl bei schnellen Spurwechseln und Autobahnfahrten äußert. Optisch erfüllt er die Aufgabe eines guten Ducktail-Spoilers: aus einem Drei-Viertel-Winkel gut sichtbar, von vorne fast unsichtbar.
