Das Model S hat sich immer durch Zurückhaltung ausgezeichnet — klare Flächen, sanfte Fasen, kaum Dramatik an der Front. Adros Carbonfaser-Frontlippe ist für Besitzer, die etwas von dieser Dramatik zurückbringen wollen, ohne die Designsprache des Fahrzeugs zu brechen. Sie senkt die Front optisch ab, schärft die vordere Kante und verleiht der Frontpartie die Definition, die Teslas Designer bewusst offen gelassen haben.
Die Konstruktion besteht aus prepreg Kohlefaser, im Autoklaven gehärtet, mit einem engen 2x2 Köpergewebe, das durchgehend verläuft. Das ist wichtig: Prepreg beginnt mit bereits gleichmäßig im Gewebe verteiltem Harz, sodass das gehärtete Teil dichter, leichter und konsistenter ist als nass verlegte Kohlefaser, die bei günstigeren Alternativen verwendet wird. Die Oberfläche ist ein tiefglänzender Spiegelglanz, der bündig am Stoßfänger anliegt und unter jeder Beleuchtung wie ein Originalteil wirkt.
Adro entwickelte die Lippe basierend auf 3D-Scandaten der Model S-Front und verfeinerte das Unterseitenprofil mittels CFD-Simulation. Das Ergebnis ist ein Teil, das ohne Nacharbeit passt — kein Unterlegen, kein Kürzen — und effektiv den Luftstrom lenkt, indem es die Luftführung um und unter die Front glättet, um den Auftrieb an der Vorderachse zu verringern und die Stabilität bei steigenden Geschwindigkeiten zu verbessern.
