The BMW G87 M2 is a polarising car from the factory. While the performance is undeniable, the styling has sparked plenty of debate. At AUTOID, we see the G87 as the perfect blank canvas – a car that just needs the right combination of carbon fibre and stance to unlock its true potential.
We recently had a customer bring their stock M2 into the workshop with a specific brief: create a one of a kind "Pace Car" build for the satin black collection. The goal was to blend aggressive, motorsport-inspired styling with premium aftermarket finishes and a presence that demands attention.
TRE Pre-Preg Carbon Fibre
The heart of this transformation lies in the TR87 G87 M2 body kit by TRE. When it comes to the G87, TRE has mastered the art of "OEM influence, but more aggressive."
We started at the front, replacing the plastic stock components with Pre-Preg Carbon Fibre Front Grilles and the TR87 Front Bumper Centre Trim. To widen the visual stance and add depth to the front fascia, we installed the TR87 Front Air Ducts.
To bring the car closer to the tarmac, we fitted the TRE Carbon Fibre Flat Front Splitter and matching Flat Side Skirts. These components create a sharp, continuous line from the nose to the rear arches, giving the car that "planted" look essential for a Pace Car aesthetic.

Motorsport Presence & Sound
You can’t have a Pace Car build without a wing. For this project, we opted for the Pre-Preg Carbon Fibre Rear Wing by FORM. It provides that iconic GT profile without being overbearing, perfectly complementing the TRE TR87 Rear Diffuser.
The soundtrack had to match the visuals. We swapped the muted factory exhaust for a Catback Exhaust System by Milltek Sport, finally giving the S58 engine the roar it deserves.

Stance and Finesse
A build is only as good as its fitment. To get the height dialled in, we fitted Height Adjustable Lowering Springs by Cobra. This allows for a significant drop while maintaining ride quality.
However, lowering a G87 often leads to the dreaded "arch rub" at the front. To solve this, we installed the TRE Arch Clearance Kit, ensuring the owner can enjoy the aggressive stance without compromising drivability.
The Finishing Touches
The "Devil is in the detail" as they say. To clean up the exterior, we went for a full "de-chrome" approach:
- Gloss Black Rear Reflector Deletes by Acexxon.
- Black Painted Genuine BMW Badge Emblems by FORM.
- Genuine M Performance Black High Gloss Model Badge.
- Plateless Magnetic Number Plate Holder for a clean, "show-car" look at the front.

FAQs
Will the lowering springs affect my adaptive suspension?
No. The Cobra Height Adjustable Springs are designed to work seamlessly with the BMW factory electronic dampers, allowing you to retain your drive modes while customising the ride height.
What is Pre-Preg Carbon Fibre and why is it better?
Pre-Preg carbon is "pre-impregnated" with resin and cured under high pressure in an autoclave. This results in a part that is significantly lighter, stronger, and has a more consistent weave than traditional "wet" carbon fibre.
Do I really need an Arch Clearance Kit?
If you are lowering your G87 M2 and running spacers or wider wheels, the front tyres will often rub against the plastic vents in the arch liner when turning. The TRE kit modifies these vents to provide the necessary clearance.
Verdict
This is easily one of the most unique G87 builds to leave the AUTOID workshop. By combining TRE’s precision carbon fibre with the right performance upgrades, we’ve turned a standard M2 into a motorsport-inspired street weapon.
