The G82 M4 has been a welcome addition to the AUTOID fleet, excelling in every way, particularly in xDrive form. The car has a remarkable way of putting power down and tackling winter weather with ease. The way it sits now has an incredible amount of road presence – thanks to several key mods we’ve already made to the car. If you're the proud owner of a BMW G80 M3 or G82 M4, you know that these cars are already a cut above the rest. But why settle for good, when you can have great? We're going to share our top 5 modifications that'll take your BMW to the next level, from increasing handling and stability to enhancing the overall aesthetic. We spoke with Nathan – our in-house G80 & G82 expert (and G82 owner) – to get his opinion on the best mods and in which order he recommends doing them in. So, buckle up, because your G80 M3 or G82 M4 is about to get even better. Stance KitFrom factory, the G80 M3 and G82 M4 rides like an SUV. There is a significant arch gap, combined with wheels that are sucked so far into the arches that the car resembles Ford Model T from behind. Okay, Slight exaggeration...The moral of the story is that improving the stance of the car is a must. We’ve developed two kits for the car – OEM+ and Aggressive. They’re self-explanatory; the OEM+ is more subtle and best suits day-to-day driving. This variant uses the popular Eibach Lowering Springs, providing a 20mm front and rear drop. Pair these with 10mm wheel spacers and you have yourself a vastly improved stance that is AUTOID approved. The Aggressive option is more suited to show cars or those prepared to adjust their driving style for better looks. In this kit, you get the added flexibility of Cobra Height-adjustable lowering springs, which give you a range of 20-45mm on the front and 0-30mm on the rear. These combined with 15mm Front and Rear spacers create a flush fit. Aero (Spoiler, Splitter + carbon ducts)Arguably just as important in terms of aesthetics is the styling. Rather than list them separately, we've made it simple. Adding these 3 mods to your G82 M4 will make the most impact in the easiest and cheapest way possible – all of them being ultimately reversible. The TRE Splitter and carbon fibre ducts make a great combo for those of you without the factory carbon pack – the splitter in particular adds drama to the front end balancing those oversized kidney grilles. On the rear, we have gone for an upgraded spoiler to match the carbon fibre on the front. You have two options: the competition or the ducktail. Nathan went for the more aggressive option...obviously. The ducktail. Exhaust"It sounds like one of those low voltage hotel hair dryers" – in the words of Nathan. We’ve said it before, the sound is one of the few major letdowns on the G8X platform. BMW aren’t to blame, governments have clamped down on emissions and a by-product of that is a more restrictive exhaust. They've now got multiple resonators, catalytic converters, and gas particulate filters (OPFs).The catalytic converters and OPFs tend to be the most restrictive part of the system. We opted to go for a non-resonated cat-back OPF-delete system by Milltek. We’ve made a video on this, take a look here: JB4 Tuning moduleYou’ve added the bark, now it is time to add the bite. The JB4 Tuning Module is a remarkably easy way to unleash performance that's in the car. This plug’n’play tuning box takes everything negative you hear about piggy-back boxes and does away with it. Burger Motorsports have built and sold thousands of these things for a number of BMW generations and they really are the best in the business at it. The JB4 provides a safe (within the realms of performance tuning) platform for extracting up to 80hp over stock. Recommend. Vorsteiner grillesWe embrace the grilles. And to be honest, most people are over them now. That being said, we still think there is room for improvement. In our opinion, Vorsteiner brings the most convincing solution to the table. Available in plastic or carbon fibre, they have produced a motorsport-like alternative with the benefit of improved airflow to the radiators. They also reduce the surface area of the grilles dramatically, making them flow much better with the overall design. They're a crowning jewel at the front of the car. There's no disputing, the G82 M4 has been a dream to work with so far...and we're just getting started. Keep up to date with our G82 build by following us on instagram. Get in touch to make your G8X stand out from the crowd.
