Owning a Porsche 992 GT3 is a dream come true for many enthusiasts, and Jack is no exception. But even dream cars come with quirks, and after spending a month behind the wheel of his GT3, Jack has a few bones to pick. While he’s absolutely in love with the car overall (and we mean really in love), here are five things that genuinely bug him.
1. The Gearbox at Low Speed
Porsche’s PDK is one of the best transmissions in the world… on the limit. But at low speeds, Jack finds it sluggish and unrefined. Switching between first and reverse involves a noticeable delay while the clutch engages which is a far cry from the smooth ZF8 in his BMW G87 M2. It’s especially annoying when manoeuvring the car into tight spaces or onto ramps in the workshop. 🫣
“It’s laggy and just feels a bit archaic when you’re crawling around. I get it - it’s a GT car but it’s still frustrating.”
2. The Ride Quality Around Town
No surprises here: the GT3 rides like a track-focused race car… because it is. But at low speeds, the suspension feels jittery, bouncy, and unsettled especially on uneven UK roads (Yes our roads are awful).
Jack acknowledges that the 992 GT3 Touring and ST have improved this with updated damper tuning, and he’s considering coding in the ST settings to smooth things out. 👨💻
“Yes, it’s a GT car, and yes it’s made for performance, but at 30mph around town it really shows its rough side.”
3. The Bolt-Upright Carbon Seats
Jack admits it might just be a personal thing but it turns out he’s not alone. The fixed-back carbon seats are so upright they feel almost vertical, leaving him feeling awkward behind the wheel. 😕
A more reclined seating angle would make a big difference in long-distance comfort, and he’s already looked into aftermarket riser kits to solve it.
“Do I look awkward? I feel awkward. Just give me a couple more degrees of recline!”
4. The Exhaust Note Could Be Louder
He knows it sounds ridiculous. But for a car this dramatic, Jack feels the exhaust - even with valves open doesn’t quite match the visual drama or the level of connection the rest of the car delivers. It sounds good, but there’s room for more theatre. The culprit? EU noise regulations, most likely. 🙄
“I feel silly saying this, but… it just needs more. When you’re flat out, you want it to scream. Right now it’s just talking.”
5. The Black Plastic Trim (Already Fixed!)
Perhaps the biggest cosmetic gripe Jack had was Porsche’s use of rough black plastic across key exterior parts particularly around the front intake and diffuser area. On a GT product with this kind of pedigree, it felt cheap.
The good news? It’s already been addressed with a full ADRO carbon aero kit , replacing the offending trim with high-quality pre-preg carbon with a 30% increase in downforce.
“It just shouldn’t be there from factory. Carbon should’ve at least been an option - especially on a car like this.”
But Here’s the Thing…
All of these complaints? They melt away the second you drive the car properly.
Jack describes the GT3 as the most connected, communicative, and confidence-inspiring car he’s ever driven from the perfectly balanced chassis to the trail brake friendly pedal feel. It’s loud, raw, and unapologetically motorsport. Not perfect for commuting. But perfect for everything that matters to an enthusiast.
