Eventuri Carbon Fibre Intake System – BMW G20 / G22 B48

Fitment: BMW G20 318i, 320i, 330i, 330e and BMW 4 Series models with the B48 engine (up to 2024).

The Eventuri Carbon Fibre Intake System for the BMW G20 and G22 B48 engines has been engineered to provide the turbocharger with a less restrictive airflow path while maintaining low intake air temperatures. When designing an intake for turbocharged engines, heat management and internal volume are key factors in achieving consistent performance gains.

In the G20 platform, the intake system sits close to the exhaust manifold, which can quickly heat soak the surrounding engine bay. Higher intake temperatures reduce air density, meaning the turbocharger must work harder to generate boost. To minimise intake air temperatures, Eventuri developed a fully sealed intake system that protects the filter from hot engine bay air while ensuring a steady supply of cool air.

However, sealed airboxes can create airflow restriction when relying on a single factory air feed. During development, Eventuri identified an additional opening near the wheel arch and incorporated this into the design as a secondary cold air feed. This dual-feed configuration allows the turbo to draw air from a larger area, reducing restriction and improving airflow efficiency.

The airbox itself is constructed from 100% prepreg carbon fibre and designed with a large internal volume to maximise airflow capacity while retaining clearance for potential strut braces. To further reduce heat soak, the system includes a gold reflective heat shield positioned between the airbox and the exhaust manifold to minimise radiant heat transfer.

Replacing the restrictive factory intake pipe is a smooth carbon fibre inlet tube with significantly greater internal volume. The tube begins with a large internal diameter of 111mm (4.4"), gradually tapering down to match the turbo inlet. This smooth transition helps maintain laminar airflow and reduces turbulence compared to the factory convoluted intake pipe.

The intake system is completed with a custom high-flow dry cone filter, manufactured from a double-layer non-woven mesh material and ISO tested for filtration performance. The filter offers a substantially larger filtration area than the factory panel filter while maintaining OEM-level protection.

All Eventuri components are manufactured from 100% prepreg carbon fibre with no fibreglass, allowing for a perfectly smooth internal surface to maintain optimal airflow characteristics.
