There's a particular kind of pressure that only comes from booking a car show before either car is ready. Not "nearly ready." Not "ready bar a wheel alignment." Bone stock on one side, stripped down to nothing on the other, no tow bar, and a ferry booked in under a fortnight. That was the starting point for this build: an Audi RS6 and a Porsche 992 GT3, both destined for Ultra Race in Germany — one of the biggest car shows in Europe — with a plan that sounded simple on paper. Wrap both cars in the same colour. Finish the GT3's aero. Fit a tow bar to a car that's never had one. Then drive the RS6 to Germany with the GT3 on a trailer behind it.

The Colour Comes First
Before anything technical happened, both cars went in for wrap — HG Military Green, a high gloss 3M finish, chosen specifically so the RS6 and GT3 would read as one unit on the road. That's the detail worth sitting with: this wasn't two builds finished separately and photographed together afterwards. The colour match was planned around the tow shot from the outset. RS6 towing GT3, same green, German autobahn — the image came before the car did.
Finishing the GT3
The Porsche's aero came from ADRO, and the kit going back on wasn't the standard version — it was ADRO's higher downforce development piece, previously fitted to the same car and now returning to it. Full circle, as these things sometimes are. The standout part is the rear wing. Rather than a flat blade, it carries a curved profile, developed using generative aerodynamic modelling — effectively millions of simulated variations tested to find the most efficient shape for the available surface area. It's a different way of arriving at a wing shape than the traditional wind-tunnel iteration most people are used to hearing about, and the difference between the old flat wing and the new curved one is immediately visible once it's mounted.
Alongside the wing: refitted side skirts, a new diffuser, and a gloss undertray that had already proven itself on the car before. New wheels went on too — a finalised set of TREVORA forged wheels, developed specifically for this GT3 and refined from an earlier development set. Green paint, silver wheels. A deliberately simple pairing, and one that does the heavy lifting once the car's moving.
Finishing the RS6 — As the Tow Car
While the GT3 got the aero attention, the RS6's job was different: get it presentable, get a roof box on it, and — rather urgently — get a tow bar fitted that didn't exist a few days earlier. New wheels went on the RS6 too, and above them, a carbon fibre roof box, added mostly because there wasn't going to be room for anything else once a GT3 was riding on the back.
None of this happened with much room to spare. Parts were still being built up on the workbench the night before departure — wings assembled by hand, bolts hidden under 3M tape for a clean finish, lower bars wrapped to match the car's new colour rather than left standard. Small decisions, made under time pressure, that show up in the final look rather than in the spec sheet.
The Tow Itself
Loading a genuinely wide car — with a rear wing wider than most trailers are built for — onto a trailer for the first time is not a relaxed process. Reversing an RS6 with a GT3 behind it, watching both sets of wheels clear the ramp, is the sort of moment that either goes smoothly or doesn't, and there's no in-between.
Once rolling, the combination drew its own kind of attention. From directly behind, the RS6 appeared to be wearing an oversized wing of its own — the GT3's aero framed perfectly behind the estate's roofline. That's the shot most people who build cars for shows never get: the transport itself becoming part of the story, rather than something to hide.
The trip wasn't without its complications. A speed check on French roads caught the rig doing 99 km/h in a 90 zone reserved for vehicles towing — a fine, paid on the spot, and a reminder that towing regulations don't flex for how good the cargo looks. Once across the German border, the story changed. On a derestricted stretch of autobahn, with the GT3 unloaded and running under its own power for the final leg, the car settled into a genuine, legal top-speed run — 162 km/h, on an empty road, in exactly the kind of conditions this build was made for.
What Actually Matters Here
It would be easy to focus on the finished cars — the wing, the wheels, the wrap — and treat the tow as a footnote. But the tow is the point. Building two cars to match, to travel together, and to arrive as a matched pair says something that a static show stand doesn't: that the build was planned as a whole, not assembled from separate projects that happened to end up green.
Two weeks is not a sensible amount of time to finish a full aero package, fit a tow bar from scratch, and wrap two cars identically. It worked because every decision — the wing profile, the wheel finish, the colour, even which bar to wrap on the spoiler — was made with the finished picture already in mind. That's the difference between a car that's ready for a show and a car that's ready to be photographed towing another one down an empty autobahn at night.
