The Ultimate G87 M2 Build Comparison: One Platform, Two Visions.

When the G87 M2 first landed, it's fair to say it caused a bit of a stir. Since then, it has become one of the most exciting canvases for modification in the BMW world.

In our latest workshop session, we had the unique opportunity to work on two stock G87 M2s simultaneously. While they started in the exact same place, they left the shop with two completely different personalities.

Whether you’re a fan of the refined, "OEM+" look or you want your M2 to look like it just rolled off a GT3 grid, this comparison has something for you.

Build 1: The "OEM+" Masterclass (Trevora Carbon Fibre)

For the first build, the goal was sophisticated aggression. The customer wanted to enhance the natural lines of the M2 without losing that factory-fresh feel.

To achieve this, we leaned heavily on our Trevora Carbon Fibre range. Trevora is all about precision — using 3D scans of the actual vehicle to ensure the fitment is indistinguishable from BMW’s own work.

Key Upgrades:

• Trevora TR87 Carbon Front Grille: Replacing the plastic slats with pre-preg carbon transforms the front end, giving it a much more premium "nose."
• Trevora Carbon Fibre Front Splitter: This adds that necessary low-slung look without being overly "pointy" for daily driving.
• Trevora Carbon Side Skirts & Rear Spats: These tie the profile together, giving the car a wider, more planted stance.

The result is an M2 that looks like the ultimate variant of G87 that BMW would've offered from factory. It’s clean, cohesive, and incredibly sharp.

 

Build 2: The Track Look (M-Performance & Akrapovič)

On the other side of the workshop, we went for high-impact. This build was about performance theatre — mixing BMW’s own M-Performance parts with the legendary craftsmanship of Akrapovič.

This build is for the owner who wants their car to be the center of attention at every meet and track day.

Key Upgrades:

• M-Performance Carbon Wing: Nothing says "motorsport" like a rear wing. It completely changes the silhouette of the G87.
• Akrapovič Slip-On Line (Titanium) Exhaust: It’s not just about the looks; it’s about the soul. The weight saving and the deep, resonant tone of the titanium system give this M2 the bark to match its bite.
• Akrapovič Carbon Rear Diffuser: Designed to house those iconic quad tips, this diffuser is a work of art in itself.

The Wildcard: The AUTOID ADRO G87

To round off the day, we brought out our own development car — an ADRO G87 M2.

If the first two builds represent different ends of the traditional modification spectrum, the ADRO kit represents a total redesign. With its completely bespoke front bumper and that gives a wide body aesthetic, it shows just how far you can take this platform when you’re ready to "full send."
