Porsche has just pulled the covers off something truly special, and if you’re a fan of high revving, naturally aspirated thrills, you’re going to want to sit down for this one. Meet the new 911 GT3 S/C, the first ever GT3 to pair that legendary 9,000rpm flat-six with a fully automatic convertible roof.
At AUTOID, we’re all about the OEM+ philosophy taking the best of what a manufacturer offers and pushing it further. The S/C (Street/Cabriolet) feels like Porsche has been reading our dream spec sheet. It’s essentially a 911 S/T with the roof chopped off, and we are here for it!

The Stats: Pure GT3 DNA
Under the rear deck sits the heart of the beast: the 4.0 litre six cylinder boxer engine from the GT3. It’s pushing out 510 PS and 450 Nm of torque. But here is the kicker for the purists the GT3 S/C is available exclusively with a lightweight six speed manual sports transmission. Porsche has focused heavily on the "S/T formula" here, meaning short ratios for maximum engagement. 0-62mph is dealt with in 3.9 seconds, and it’ll keep pulling all the way to 194mph.
Weight is the Enemy
Building a convertible usually means adding serious bulk, but Porsche has been ruthless. By using carbon fibre (CFRP) for the bonnet, wings, and doors and even magnesium for the roof ribs and those stunning centre lock wheels they’ve kept the weight down to just 1,497kg.
That makes it only 30kg heavier than the legendary 991 Speedster, but with the convenience of a roof that opens or closes in 12 seconds at speeds up to 31mph.
Street Style & Interior Touches
Visually, the S/C borrows the aggressive, wingless silhouette of the Touring and S/T models, featuring a Gurney flap on the retractable rear spoiler.
Inside, it’s a masterclass in lightweight luxury. You get carbon fibre door pulls, lightweight carpets, and the option of those gorgeous carbon bucket seats. For those wanting to stand out, the 'Street Style Package' adds Pyro Red accents, four tone braided leather, and a laminated wood gear knob a direct nod to the Carrera GT and 917 race cars.
Our Take
The GT3 S/C isn't a limited edition like the Speedster or S/T, which is refreshing. It’s a car designed for the "winding country road" rather than the lap record, and that’s a sentiment we champion here at AUTOID.
It’s the ultimate canvas for a few choice modifications. What do you think of the GT3 S/C? Is it the ultimate open-top 911, or do you still prefer the wing of the standard GT3? Let us know in the comments.
