We recently had this G87 M2 in the AUTOID workshop for a full TR87 carbon kit by TRE and it’s hard not to feel like this is how the car should have come from the factory...
The G87 has already proven itself dynamically and most of us now love its bold, wide stance. But some of us will admit the design can feel a little incomplete in places. The front bumper, in particular, looks like it’s missing something and that’s where the TR87 kit solves this.
The goal behind the TR87 kit was never to radically change the M2’s shape, but to complete it.
Perfecting the look of the G87 M2
By adding sharper, more structured carbon details, the car finally feels “resolved”.
This customer opted for the winged TR87 kit, which includes:
Three-piece front splitter (winged) OEM mounting, sectional for easy replacement.
NEW: Updated front ducts & lower centre trim revised for improved fitment and alignment.
Winged side skirts ties front and rear visually.
Rear diffuser with winglets replaces the gloss black OEM rear diffuser and winglets add visual cohesion from the side skirt winglet.
Adjustable rear wing “Road” and “Track” rake options for increased downforce.
TR87 plaques (interior & exterior) for full kit cars.
All parts are 2x2 pre-preg carbon fibre, perfectly matching OEM M Performance weave and quality.
TRE TR87 Kit Improvements
The front ducts and centre trim have just been revised by TRE for tighter fitment and alignment.
We were one of the first to install the updated pieces, and the improvement is instantly noticeable:
Tight fit around the lower bumper openings.
Cleaner visual flow across the front end.
Fewer mounting inconsistencies during install.
It’s a subtle update, but one that makes a big difference. The result is a front end that looks more complete, more OEM+, and better integrated with the rest of the kit.
Supporting Mods
This particular G87 was already off to a strong start before styling when it came into us for the following:
Cobra height adjustable suspension for ride height tuning.
Wheel spacers for improved stance with the OEM wheels.
Milltek cat back exhaust for a greater sound with enlarged tips.
So the platform was dialled in - the TR87 kit simply brought the design together visually.
Magna Plates removable front plate system ideal for shows/events.
TR87 plaque fitted both exterior and interior.
Rear wing set in Road mode (Track mode adds a more aggressive rake).
Final thoughts
The G87 M2 doesn’t need saving, it just needed finishing. With the TR87 kit, and especially the revised ducts and centre trim, the design finally comes together and the kit looks seamless.
What was once a slightly unbalanced front end now feels intentional and cohesive. The carbon details sharpen the look without overpowering it, and the proportions of the car finally make sense from every angle.
