Modified VW Mk8.5 Golf GTI Clubsport

Modified VW Mk8.5 Golf GTI Clubsport

The MK8.5 Golf GTI Clubsport has only just hit the roads, but we couldn't wait to get our hands on one. While VW has done a great job with the facelift bringing back physical steering wheel buttons (thankfully) and bumping the power, but stock is never enough for us.

We set ourselves a challenge: Transform the MK8.5 Clubsport with a £3,000 budget to see just how much of an impact we could make on both aesthetics and performance. Here is how we did it.

The Foundation: Zaero Design Gloss Black Body Kit

The Clubsport already comes with a more aggressive aero package than the standard GTI, but it still sits a bit "tucked" from the factory. To sharpen the lines, we installed the full Zaero Design Gloss Black Body Kit.

Zaero is our go-to for VW styling because the fitment and finish is OEM quality. The kit includes a front splitter that lowers the visual profile of the nose, side skirt extensions that tie the front and rear together, and a rear diffuser that frames those signature oval exhaust tips perfectly. It takes the car from "sporty hatchback" to "aggressive street weapon" without looking like an afterthought.

The Stance: Eibach Lowering Springs & Rotiform Wheels

A body kit only works if the stance is right. The MK8.5 sits a little high for our liking, so we swapped the factory springs for a set of Eibach Lowering Springs. These provide a subtle drop that kills the arch gap while maintaining the adaptive DCC damper functionality. It’s the perfect middle ground for a daily driven performance car.

For the wheels, we opted for something iconic. We bolted on a set of Rotiform KPR Cast Monoblock wheels. The multi-spoke design is a nod to classic touring car aesthetics but with a modern twist that complements the MK8.5’s updated LED light signatures.

The Sound: MST Intake Kit

Under the hood, the EA888 Gen 4 engine is a masterpiece, but VW keeps it quiet to meet global regulations. To let the turbo breathe (and let us hear it), we installed the MST Intake Kit. Not only does this improve throttle response and add a few extra ponies, but the induction noise and "flutter" on lift-off finally give the Clubsport the character it deserves.

The Result

In just one afternoon and with a £3,000 budget, we’ve completely shifted the personality of this MK8.5. It looks wider, lower, and significantly more premium.

Is this the best "bang for your buck" mod list for the new GTI? We think so.
