FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
AUTOID x Milltek Sport Announce World’s First Carbon Fibre Exhaust System for the G90 BMW M5
March 31, 2025
AUTOID and Milltek Sport have teamed up once again to push the boundaries of aftermarket innovation — and this time, we’re rewriting the rulebook on performance exhaust systems.
Introducing the Milltek x AUTOID CFRP Ultra-Light Exhaust System, developed exclusively for the upcoming BMW G90 M5.
Crafted entirely from aerospace-grade T700 carbon fibre, this revolutionary exhaust system is designed with one goal in mind: shedding weight from the heaviest M car ever produced.
With the G90 M5 tipping the scales at 2,400kg, every gram matters. The CFRP system replaces the stock stainless steel exhaust, removes all six catalytic converters, the OPF modules, and ditches unnecessary heat shielding — saving an astonishing 42.8kg in total mass.
Key Features:
- Material: T700 carbon fibre weave with ceramic-infused internal lining
- Weight: Just 6.2kg (compared to OEM ~49kg)
- Power Gains: +11.3hp and +14Nm at the wheels (dyno tested at Milltek HQ)
- Sound: “Naturally aspirated V10 meets carbon cello” — the first system to resonate in higher harmonic frequencies thanks to carbon wall acoustics
- Finish: Satin or Forged carbon, available with matte or gloss resin
- Tips: 5” carbon fibre-over-titanium hybrid, laser-etched with AUTOID x Milltek branding
- Sustainability: Made in part from recycled carbon waste from McLaren F1 panels (only 10 sets available in this variant)
R&D Methodology:
The system was developed using AI-assisted thermodynamics modelling and vibration resonance simulations. An exclusive AI tool developed by AUTOID — codenamed “E-CHO” — was trained on over 200 hours of engine acoustics to “tune” the exhaust for maximum emotional response while remaining technically track-legal (subject to country regulations… probably).
Milltek’s Senior Acoustic Engineer, Dr. Felix Böller, commented:
“We knew we’d either be hailed as visionaries or banned from the Nürburgring. Either way, we’re proud.”
Release Info:
The first batch is limited to 25 units worldwide and will be priced at £14,995. Due to the experimental nature of the materials, a strict waiver must be signed prior to installation acknowledging potential heat-induced reshaping under spirited driving.
