It’s the end of an era at AUTOID, and arguably the start of our most controversial chapter yet.
If you’ve been following the journey, you’ll know that the G87 M2 was more than just a shop car; it was the heartbeat of our development program. It was the test bed for the products you see on the road today. Combined with the sale of the X3M daily, there’s a massive, German shaped hole in our garage.
So, have we lost our minds? To find out, we headed down to see Dylan at Automotive Addiction. Our goal was simple: replace two incredible cars with one machine that does it all.
Meet the new AUTOID Audi RS6 C8.

Why the RS6?
We’ve heard you. For years, the DMs have been flooded with: "When are you doing RS models?" or "Where is the Audi love?"
While we’re BMW through and through, we felt an obligation to branch out. But there’s a deeper reason. With Audi launching the new hybrid RS5 (a direct competitor to the G80 / G81 M3), we wanted to immerse ourselves in the RS ecosystem. We have an RS5 on order, but to get the ball rolling, we needed the big daddy, the RS6.
Stock for stock? It looks 10 times better than a G81 M3. There, we said it.

The Spec: Vorsprung & Beyond
This isn't just any RS6. It’s a 2021 Vorsprung edition finished in Nardo Gray. In Audi-speak, "Vorsprung" means it has every single option ticked except for ceramic brakes.
- Engine: 4.0L Twin-Turbo V8
- Power: Already running a Lichfield Stage 1 tune, pushing roughly 680-700hp.
- Suspension: This one features the DRC (Dynamic Ride Control) system shocks and springs rather than air suspension offering significantly sharper handling for a car of this size.
- Condition: Dylan and the team at Automotive Addiction put 60 hours of detailing into this car before we picked it up. It is, quite literally, "mint of the mint."

The Drive: First Impressions
Nathan describes stepping out of the G90 M5 and into the RS6 as eye opening. Despite its size, the RS6 feels more compact and agile on the road. The V8 rumble is visceral a proper old school soundtrack that modern BMWs sometimes struggle to match.
The torque is immediate, the 8 speed ZF gearbox is snappy, and the rear wheel steering makes it shrink around you in the corners. It’s a masterclass in "Fast Estate" engineering.

What’s Next for the RS6?
We aren't keeping it stock for long. In fact, we’ve been working secretly with Trevora in the background on a full carbon aero Kit. Expect a splitter, side skirts, diffuser, and spoiler to land very soon.
The 2-Week Countdown:
The clock is ticking. In just two weeks, this car is heading to Germany for the Ultrace Festival. Before it leaves, it’s getting:
- A full color change wrap.
- A fresh set of wheels.
- A tow bar (yes, it’s going to be a workhorse!).

Is AUTOID an Audi Channel Now?
Don't panic the Roundel isn't going anywhere. In fact, next week we’re back to our roots, building a wild G80 M3 for a customer traveling all the way from Ireland.
But for now, the RS6 is our new muse. We’ll be pitting it against the G90 M5 very soon to see which ultimate daily comes out on top.
