Frequently asked questions

Will a Milltek exhaust pass an MOT?

It depends on the system. Product pages that say ECE approved are made for road use. Systems listed as off-road or track use only, such as OPF/GPF bypass pipes and de-cat downpipes, are not road legal, so don't use them on the road. Each product page says which type it is. If you're not sure, ask us before you order.

Is a Milltek exhaust loud?

That's up to you. Many Milltek systems come in a resonated version, which is quieter with less drone on the motorway, and a non-resonated version, which is louder. On cars with exhaust valves, an active valve controller lets you switch between a quieter and a louder mode.

What's the difference between cat-back, GPF-back and downpipes?

A cat-back or GPF/OPF-back system replaces the exhaust from the catalytic converter or particulate filter back to the tips, and keeps those parts in place. Downpipes and bypass pipes replace parts closer to the engine, and most of the ones we list are for off-road or track use only.

Do I need a remap or coding for a Milltek exhaust?

Many cat-back and GPF-back systems don't, but some do. Our listings for OPF/GPF bypass pipes and downpipes say they need coding, an OPF delete module or ECU software, and a few need a Stage 2 remap. Each product page lists what's needed, so check it before you book fitting.

Can AUTOID fit my Milltek exhaust?

Yes. We offer fitting at our Chelmsford, Essex workshop. Some systems need the original exhaust cutting, and those are best fitted by a professional. Contact us with your car's model and registration to book.

Which Milltek exhaust do you need?

Cat-back and GPF/OPF-back systems replace the exhaust from the catalytic converter or particulate filter back to the tips. Many come in resonated and non-resonated versions, so you can choose how loud you want the car to be. Downpipes and bypass pipes replace parts nearer the engine. Most of these are listed for off-road or track use only and need coding or ECU software, so read the notes on each product page. Active valve controllers let you open and close the exhaust valves on cars that have them.
