Wheel Spacers

Wheel Spacers - Hub-Centric Fitment, Improved Stance, Better Handling

Wheel spacers are one of the most cost-effective modifications available for improving both the appearance and handling dynamics of a performance car. By pushing the wheel outward from the hub face, a wheel spacer widens the effective track of the vehicle - improving cornering stability, giving the wheel and tyre a more flush, aggressive fitment within the arch and achieving the 'stance' aesthetic that defines a well-executed wheel setup.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between hub-centric and lug-centric wheel spacers?

A hub-centric spacer has a centre bore that matches the vehicle's hub diameter precisely, so it centres on the hub and is supported by the hub face. A lug-centric spacer relies on the wheel bolts alone for centering. Hub-centric spacers are significantly safer and more vibration-free because the hub carries the load - not just the bolts. All Bimecc spacers in our range are hub-centric.

What size wheel spacers should I fit?

This depends on your goals. 4–7mm is a conservative OEM+ look that moves the wheel slightly outward without risking arch clearance issues. 15–23mm creates a more aggressive, flush fitment. Always check tyre-to-arch clearance for your specific vehicle and suspension setup before fitting a large spacer, particularly on lowered cars.

Do wheel spacers require an alignment check after fitting?

Fitting wheel spacers changes the front and rear track width but does not alter the wheel alignment geometry (camber, toe, caster). An alignment check after fitting spacers is not strictly required, though it is always a sensible precaution any time suspension-adjacent components are modified.

Are wheel spacers legal on UK roads?

Yes - wheel spacers are legal to use on UK roads. There is no specific prohibition. However, the spacer must maintain adequate wheel bolt engagement (typically a minimum of 1.5x the bolt thread diameter). All spacers in our range are supplied with appropriately extended bolts to ensure correct bolt engagement.

At AUTOID, we stock hub-centric wheel spacers from Bimecc - a leading manufacturer of precision-machined wheel fitment components certified under TUV ISO 9001 and TUV IATF 1969 quality standards. Hub-centric spacers are critical for safe, vibration-free installation - they centre on the hub bore rather than relying on the wheel bolts, which eliminates the risk of vibration and stress on fasteners that can occur with non-hub-centric (lug-centric) spacers.

Our range covers BMW 5x112 PCD platforms, Porsche 5x130 PCD platforms and other configurations, available in 4mm, 7mm, 15mm and 23mm sizes. All spacers are supplied as a set of four with extended black-coated wheel bolts included. An optional locking wheel bolt upgrade is available for additional security.
