Frequently asked questions
How do I know if my G87 M2 has an OPF?

Check your car's specification, or ask us before you order. The OPF is the petrol particulate filter in the mid section of the exhaust. Milltek lists OPF/GPF parts and separate parts for North American Specification (NAS) cars without an OPF, and Akrapovic lists its Evolution Link Pipe Set for both.
Which G87 M2 exhausts are road legal?

It depends on the part. Akrapovic lists ECE type approval for its Slip-On Line on OPF-equipped M2 Coupés, and Remus lists its axle-back as EC approved. Milltek lists its mid pipes, mid-pipe cat-back, Z-Pipe and downpipes for off-road or competition use only, and Akrapovic lists its downpipe and Evolution Link Pipe Set for closed-circuit track use. Adding the link pipe takes the Slip-On Line outside its type approval. Where a product page states no approval, ask us before you order.
Do I need a remap with a G87 M2 exhaust?

It depends on the part. Akrapovic says its Slip-On Line needs no ECU remapping. Akrapovic's Evolution Link Pipe Set and downpipe both need ECU remapping. Milltek's large-bore downpipes need a Stage 2 remap, and its mid pipes may need a tune or an OPF delete cable. Some pages, including the Milltek OPF/GPF exhaust system and the Remus system, say nothing either way, so ask us.
How much weight does a titanium exhaust save on the M2?

Akrapovic quotes 7.3 kg (32.7%) less than the stock exhaust for its titanium Slip-On Line. BMW quotes about 8 kg, over 30%, for the M Performance titanium system compared with the standard M2 CS exhaust.
Can I control the exhaust valves on a G87 M2?

Milltek's Active Valve Control Plug & Play System lists the G87 M2, both OPF and non-OPF cars. It gives remote control of the valves and works with the factory exhaust as well as Milltek systems.

How to choose a G87 M2 exhaust

Cat-back, mid pipe and downpipe

An axle-back or cat-back replaces the rear of the exhaust. Milltek Sport describes its axle-back as close to stock volume with an improved tone, and its OPF-back, which removes the centre silencer, as louder with a deeper tone. A mid pipe replaces the middle section, and the Milltek mid pipes also remove the secondary catalytic converters and the OPF section. A downpipe is the first section, from the turbochargers, and comes with sports catalytic converters or as a cat-free or bypass pipe. Every downpipe here is listed for off-road or track use, and most ask for a remap or a delete module.

OPF cars, non-OPF cars and road use

The OPF is the petrol particulate filter in the mid section. Drone, valve control and remaps

Drone is the resonant boom at a steady cruise. Akrapovic describes the Slip-On Line's dual valves and acoustic reflectors as giving a smooth, rich tone at a cruise. Milltek's plug and play valve control gives remote control of the valves and lists both OPF and non-OPF G87 cars. The Slip-On Line needs no remap, according to Akrapovic. Its link pipe and downpipe do, as do Milltek's large-bore downpipes, and Milltek's mid pipes may need a tune or an OPF delete cable.
